Back in the late 1950s the US government developed the Titan missile system, the first ever Intercontinental Ballistic Missile system. This facility was finished by the early 1960s and housed three nuclear warheads stored in three separate silos. The silos are each 160 feet deep and 40 feet wide. The complex was poorly designed however and the Titans were phased out by 1965.
This particular site has been stripped of its hardware so to speak. The missiles are gone. The generators, the computers, the toilets, and everything else have been removed as well. What remains is a rusted out shell buried in the middle of nowhere. The silos are flooded, some much worse than others. The layout of the complex would make an incredible map for a video game.
Here are a few photos that I snapped throughout the incredible site.
